On Valentines day, 2/14/2010, I decided to take Jaclyn for a nice meal and dessert in Philly. She loves the historical parts of Philly and while these two places are more or less replicas we thoroughly enjoyed our time there.
We first went to City Tavern, which is a colonial themed restaurant from top to bottom. It’s located on 2nd street a few blocks from Market in Old City Philadelphia. The decor was straight out of the colonial time period as is pretty much everything else. The only thing not out of that time period were the prices. I’d strongly recommend going for lunch as the portions were perfect and prices close to half that of dinner. Overall, we enjoyed it and will probably go back.
After dinner and a brisk walk we visited the Franklin Fountain, a turn of the century themed soda fountain/ice cream parlor. Again, everything in this place, down to the mirror in the bathroom, went along with the 1920s theme. It was really pretty cool, not to mention the ice cream is homemade and the sundae we had was awesome! I think we finally found a contender to the “Brownie Obsession” at TGI Fridays. I’m sure we’ll be back here many times as pretty much everything on the menu sounds good. Just a quick word of advice; unless your eating it as your meal, split the sundae.
That was Valentines Day 2010. We’re not usually big on holidays like Valentines Day, but it was a good excuse to head downtown. It was the first time since moving back that we got to spend some time in the city. We’re looking forward to living down there!
Thanks for stopping by, check out the Franklin Fountain and City Tavern and let us know what you think.

From the snow battered Valley Forge Christian College campus here in Phoenixville PA, I figured it was about time for a little update. We’re snowed in today with over 15 inches of snow on the ground enjoying some much needed rest. Things have been quite busy, but I have to report that we are doing extremely well and are encouraged by how well the Lord has led us recently.
Classes at VFCC have been in session now for almost a month. I am taking 17 credits, and Jaclyn is doing 13.5. I’ve been blessed to find an excellent job that I enjoy quite a bit. I’m working part-time (20 hours a week) driving a school bus. The pay is great and allows for quite a bit of flexibility with classes. It also allows my nights and weekends to be free and to top it off, I can walk to the depot! To say the least it has been fun and such a blessing.
Jaclyn is working in retail at the King of Prussia Mall a few nights a week. With my job in place Jaclyn can afford to work a little less and spend more time studying music. In addition to classes starting and work getting under way we have plugged into Calvary Assembly of God and are blessed to be part of this church family and look forward to our next season there.
Jaclyn and I also are involved with the Philadelphia Tabernacle of David and usually take one Saturday a month to be part of a 12-hour prayer and worship watch. I’m on the board and also head up their sound/media type stuff. Jaclyn had the chance to get back into leading worship, which she did at our last event on January 16. We’ll be at Faith Love Outreach Church in Philadelphia coming up on February 20 from 8am-8pm continuing to pray and intercede for Philadelphia.
Thanks for checking up with us. We’ll hopefully get a little better and updating this more often. Be sure to check out our individual blogs and keep in touch.

It’s hard to believe it but we are officially back in Pennsylvania. The trip was excellent though long and snow packed. We ended up staying an extra night breaking the trip into roughly three 9 hour sections. Special thanks to my mom and sister for driving with us and helping make the trip a lot more fun!
On December 21 we moved into our 325 square foot apartment at Valley Forge Christian College just outside of King of Prussia. Look forward to some posts on how we are managing in such a small space. Its really not as bad as I thought it was going to be. It is quite awesome to be able to live in just the amount of space you need.
Christmas eve the Kranjec family went to McCormick and Shmicks in Center City and had an awesome seafood dinner. Then Christmas day was spent mostly at the Ambroses. It was a great way to start up again here in PA!
Jaclyn and I are now looking for part-time jobs and anticipating the start of the semester. The first event we will be part of in Philadelphia will most likely be an 8-hour worship and prayer watch at Philadelphia Deliverance Tabernacle on January 16. I believe the event starts at 8am. I’ll post more info soon.
Happy New Year to everyone and we look forward to you keeping up with us here on thekranjecs.com!

2 years, 4 months, and 17 days since we first left Pennsylvania and now we are headed back in just 3 days! Time indeed flies. If you are unaware Jaclyn and I are moving back to Phoenixville, Pennsylvania (Philadelphia Suburb) where we will be finishing our degrees at Valley Forge Christian College (VFCC). We will be preparing for future ministry in Philadelphia while also taking up leadership roles for the Philadelphia Tabernacle of David (a house of prayer start-up). In short, things are only going to get busier.
We leave Friday afternoon and trek 1100 miles over two days to arrive in the Philly area by Saturday night. Sunday afternoon two friends of ours are getting married, and then Monday we move into our apartment located on campus at VFCC. It’s a bit ironic that over five years later we find ourselves on the same campus where we first met.
We’ll be sure to post more information on what exactly has taken place over the last 2 years, 4 months, and 17 days and what exactly we are doing back at VFCC
.
Until then,
Alex
